We have Parks Victoria and City of Maribyrnong in discussions this week as to responsibilities for maintenance of the unkempt beds on the banks of the edgewater marina as the beds in question are on a boundary. Will post outcomes.

Starting the residents association

Hello Edgewater.....

We need to kick it up a notch here in the Edgewater estate with our dear council to preserve our investment in our properties and improve the amenity of the neighbourhood.

Our resident Matthew Hackling has been running a campaign since October 2014 captured for posterity on https://facebook.com/fixedgewater with City of Maribyrnong

Another resident has had a persistent extended email campaign with the City of Maribyrnong on garden maintenance (or lack of it)

A third core resident has also interviewed with 3AW talkback radio.

I suggest that we hold a regular catchup to discuss issues, coordinate our efforts with the council and generate some ideas on improvements to the area to pursue.

Last sunday of the month 6pm cafe boutique.

Kind Regards,

Matthew Hackling

Issues

Current issues include:
- quality and frequency of parks and gardens maintenance by council - what is done after formal complaints is by work for the dole kids or council mowers who race their ride on mowers
- derelict reticuation system - unsightly and a trip hazard
- un maintained decking - serious safety concern - rusty exposed bolts and broken decking where kids ride bikes and scooters at speed
- litter and MORE bins - dedicated campaign from a resident got us the single bin in the marina
- ghost houses - unfinished homes under construction for 5+ years
- pest control
- public health
- street parking congestion (poor urban planning for apartments in waterside place)
- general DILLIGAF attitude from some property owners on key corner properties  on main thoroughfares
- parking for businesses - that's why they can't make a go of it.
- erratic parking enforcement -residents get harassment for parking in their driveways where people parking in no standing zones aren't ticketed
- astronomically high rates which aren't benchmarked with other councils via municipal association of victoria survey
- no lighting for the marina and parks/ personal safety

Good ideas from residents

- a music festival from a barge in the marina
- a market with market stalls around the marina
